Happy Friday, y’all!
Tattoos, I love them. I currently have 8 but there will be more to come. I thought it would be fun to tell you guys about my tattoos and some ideas I have for future ones. They aren’t kidding when they say that tattoos are addictive.
These are some that I have. I also have one on my foot but I’m not going to post a picture of my ugly foot. I also have my boys’ names on the side of my hands.
So an explanation: The first tattoo I got was the horizontal quote on my left wrist. It says, “If you don’t have shadows you’re not in the light.” -Gaga. I got that one when I was 21 and going through my divorce. I liked it because:
- I was getting a lot of hate for my part in the divorce even though no one really knew what was going on except the two of us.
- It’s a reminder that no one is perfect.
- I love Lady Gaga.
I also wanted it on my wrist because back during the Victorian era it was considered indecent for a woman to show her wrists, since it was considered a very delicate area. I thought it would be cool to put a tattoo on it.
My second tattoo was my Deathly Hallows tattoo. I get the most comments/compliments on this one. I am a huge Harry Potter fan (apparently) and I am proud to show it. The JKR stands for J.K. Rowling of course. Either people know exactly what it is and they say, “I love your tattoo.” or they ask what it is then go, “Oh yeah! I knew it looked familiar.” Some people even think I’m a part of the Illuminati.
My third tattoo was the one on my foot. It’s lyrics from a song by Gillian Welch that says, “When you lay me down to rest leave a pistol in my vest.” I liked it because it’s a tie to my southern roots and I just love Gillian Welch.
My fourth tattoo was that vertical quote on my right wrist. It’s lyrics from a song called House Carpenter by Nickel Creek. I used to sing this song to my first born when he was a baby to soothe him to sleep. I sing it to my youngest sometimes to. I can still sing it to my oldest though when he needs to chill out and he calms right down and leans on me and just zones out. It’s nice.
The last four I got at the same time. I got my sons’ names on the side of my hands, they faded pretty bad and I need to go get them touched up. The other two are the heart and water sign on my ring fingers. I got a water sign because I’m a Scorpio and therefore a water sign and I got the heart because I am married to the best man I have ever met and I will never regret it, even if in the end things don’t work out.
There are a lot that I want to get to. I would like to add two air signs and an earth sign on the rest of my fingers on my right hand for my husband and sons. I also want to get my last name tattooed on the side of my ring finger and a lightening bolt on my left forefinger. (Another Harry Potter reference.) I want to get Chris Thile’s mandolin tattooed on the back of my right forearm because I love him that much. I want to get some lyrics from Florence and the Machine on my right thigh. I want to get an ouroboros symbol from Full Metal Alchemist on my left thigh like Envy’s. (Another nerd tattoo.) I want to get a bat on the inside of my upper right arm. (I love bats, they’re my favorite.) I would like to get a typewriter on my left forearm after I get published. I also want to get a crescent moon on my right shoulder blade to match my youngest sister’s sun tattoo that she has on her left shoulder blade. And finally I would like to get something feminine yet creepy on my left arm, something big like a quarter sleeve. Here are some pictures of ideas that I have. All of these photos were taken from Pinterest.
This is the symbol from Full Metal Alchemist.
This is the matching sun and moon between me and my sister.
This is the feminine yet creepy idea I was talking about.

Chris Thile’s mandolin.
So that’s my tattoos and ideas! Do you have any tattoos? What are some you want to get?
